Nude Food Day and Giveaway

Its National Nude Food Day

October is the time for National Nude Food Day!  Any day in October but why not take the challenge for a week or even the whole month of October!

National Nude Food Day 2015 and GiveawayNude Food Day

Its a nationwide campaign with lots of schools around Australia taking the opportunity to be involved. Nude Food Day has also launched in the UK and have secured Eco Schools, Keep Australia Beautiful, Wildlife Warriors and Australia Zoo as partners for Nude Food Day along with Nutrition Australia.

Nude Food Day is a great opportunity to teach your kids about how our actions can impact the environment and their health. It is about encouraging healthy eating and being environmentally conscious in how and what we eat, what we buy, and the impact of what we do on the planet.

"Nude Food Day is a global initiative developed to encourage kids and parents to eat well and live well, and eliminate all unnecessary packaging and wrapping that goes into schools."

Nude Food Day

Being nude and conscious with our food and packaging will reduce rubbish that goes in the bin, that then goes in the ground which then pollutes our planet. But its more than that, it is hoped that with the reduction of the need for packaging products, it will also then have a long term effect of reducing the air pollution from the factories creating the packaging and wrappers.

Rubbish free meals, mean not only reducing waste but reducing the consumption of processed & packaged foods. By giving your children food that doesn’t contain packaging will also encourage healthier eating as you won’t be purchasing pre-packaged foods that are often loaded additives to ensure it stays fresh in its packaging.

I love yoghurt with fresh fruit, sometimes a healthy sandwich or a fresh salad. Homegrown cherry tomatoes and fresh tabbouli using homegrown parsley! To change things up a bit, with a hummous dip on the side!

I make School time dishes my hobby. My star shaped low fat Mini Banana Pikelets and white chocolate dipped strawberries are just some of the enticing food I make for the fussy eaters I have. You know when the other mums are complaining to you that you are going a bit overboard and their children are wanting the same food that you are doing it right. :-)

I try to make everything from scratch, letting the kids help choose and make what snacks and treats they would like. Luckily for me, my kids love fresh fruit and Vege! So I cut them up differently, use cutters, add a side of dip and they are happy. Platters are their and my fav! Add some fruit and Vege, cream cheese to dip, whole grain crackers, cheese, lean meat, dried fruit, nuts and a chickpea cookie and my kids gobble it up! Served on a platter or in a lunch box and all rubbish free!! Hubby is often jealous when he sees their lunches :)

I always try and live by the mantra of "nude is best" and serve as much unprocessed food as I can. Veggie sticks with a hommus dip or strawberries and apple with yoghurt always make regular appearance in my kids lunchbox!

My daughter loves yoghurt at lunch time. The Nude Yoghurt Mover turns yoghurt into a refreshing frozen yoghurt which is great for summer and incredibly easy and quick for a busy mum to prepare.
