A childrens story of drought and hope

Ella and the Ocean by Lian Tanner - Book Review and Giveaway

"A very Australian story of drought and renewal, of family, of imagination and of the power of hope.
Ella lived in the red-dirt country where the earth was as dry as old bones and it hadn't rained for years and years and years.

One night, Ella dreamt of the ocean…"

Ella & the Ocean

We loved this story. Ellas family live on a farm in drought for a long time. The illustrations and story show red dust, hungry cattle, dry cracked earth and a family wearing thin.  Then Ella dreams of the ocean something she and gran have never ever seen.  Its a story of believing in dreams, hope and renewel.  Good story and a wonderful captivating picture book.

Snuggled up together with bub in bed, on the couch, in the park. We enjoy reading everywhere

My favourite place to read is snuggled up on the lounge under a doona, with the cat curled up on my lap having a snooze. She gives me a good excuse to keep reading as I don't have the heart to move her!

Now that it's heating up, we love to get outdoors. We live on a farm and our animals love to listen to storied as much as the kids. We are on tank water which with the drought has been tough. At one stage we went without running water for 8 months. I'd love this book for my family. It shows that we are not alone and there is some magic that follows tough times.

Outside on the outside lounge, with soaking up the sun and warmth and of course a cuppa with the radio on low in the background!
