Oricom SC850 Monitor Review and Giveaway
A Baby Monitor is on every Mum's list when expecting a baby. It gives Mum Reassurance, some Relaxation and with a quality built monitor like Oricom you a also getting Reliance, that your baby is ok without having to physically check them. I was given an Oricom SC850 4.3” Digital Video Baby Monitor, to trial and review. All view and words are my own.
A good monitor will last you years and i think when you have a great monitor you do use it for years. Perfect if you're on holidays and children are in a different room or further than normal from you. I really do feel more at ease knowing i can enjoy my dinner and glass of wine at our holiday location and i can still see and hear my sleeping toddler and children at the other end of the house using our Oricom Video Monitor. My kids are reassured that they aren't alone in a strange place and that i can hear and see them. Peace of Mind!
I use my Oricom Video Monitor at home all the time. I can leave a sleeping toddler inside and take the other children out to the pool to swim, i couldn't do this without a monitor as i can't leave kids in pool whilst i check on the sleeping child. I know exactly when she wakes and the kids can pop out whilst i go inside to get her. No one misses out or is in danger.
If you are looking for a monitor or a baby present for someone, you really can't go past this monitor it has everything you need and more.
Review and Features
Oricom SC850 4.3” Digital Video Baby Monitor
Sound
- The sound is clear and not muffled. The volume can be adjusted so i can turn the parent unit up or down pending on how much i want to hear my toddler sing frozen.
- Another cool feature of this monitor is lullabies can be played from the parent unit which is great. I can turn it on and turn it off whenever i like. There is five songs to choose from.
- The volume can be adjusted and the sensitivity of baby's sound can me adjusted so you can make it really sensitive if your baby is very quiet. Great for peace of mind with a new bubba.
- You can talk through the monitor to baby.
Camera and Pictures
- The camera itself is so cool. Oricom are certainly up on the technology, you can adjust the camera move it left, right, up and down. Great for when you put kids down at one end of the bed or cot and they end up sleeping at the other!
- Really large screen and i love this, you can glance and see clearly without having to study it all the time. You can zoom in and out with ease.
- The picture is clear and the sensors automatically change if the light in the room changes. Clever idea.
Interference
- I did get a little bit in one location of my house but seriously there is tvs, wifi, all sorts of things so i wouldn't expect it to be perfect there all the time, its just a matter of moving the unit a little, then its fine.
Controls
- You can control just about everything. Everything i needed thats for sure. You can adjust volumes and brightness and set room temperatures.
- Range is up to 150m. This of course might change with how many walls and things are in between the units. The parent unit will beep if you go out of range.
- There is a rechargeable battery which is handy. i've never had a monitor that battery lasted long but this seems to be something that Oricom has planned and i did get five or so hours out of it when required. It says up to 8 hours of battery life but i haven't needed it for that long.
Setting Up and Ease of Use
- Too easy. Its all pretty clear. The instructions are clear and there is a website for troubleshooting.
- The units themselves are pretty clear everything is marked well i think.
- There is a night light, which a a good soft light.
- You can put up to for units on the one parent unit, which isnt necessary for me but i can see how that could be handy for others.
Extras
- You know if you have a problem with a monitor what do you do if you can't take it back ? Nothing right. WELL! not the case with ORICOM! They have a great easy to use website which not only can you look up your product and find all the product information and user guides but you can also call them and speak to a human in Australia who works for Oricom! I think that is above and beyond what is expected of products these days and should they should really be commended for actually having faith in their products and willingness to support their consumers past the sale point.

thanks for the competition
No, I am not entering for me, before you ask if there is something I need to tell you...
But my answer would be an activity mat. Great for tummy time, play, interaction, and of course great to give Mum and Dads arms a little rest.
