Beef Stroganoff is so easy to make from scratch

 

You don’t need packet or jar mixes to make Stroganoff. Here is a traditional Stroganoff recipe that shows you how easy it is.

Traditional Beef Stroganoff

Ingredients

500g Beef Strips

1 Brown onion  cut into medium slices

300ml Sour Cream

300g button mushrooms sliced

200g Bacon chopped roughly (rind removed)

1 tablespoon smoked paprika

2 tablespoons Tomato Paste

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1/2 cup of beef or vegetable stock

2 teaspoon chopped garlic

Rice or Pasta to serve

Fresh Parsley or Chives to garnish

Method

In a large fry pan with a little oil or i use oil spray cook your beef strips in batches for 2 to 3 minutes until they have browned then remove and set them all aside.

Using the same pan cook add your onion and garlic. Cook till the onion has softened and slightly translucent.

Then add to the onion the bacon and mushrooms. Cook for five or so minutes until the mushrooms has gone tender.

Now add back into the pan the beef strips and fold them through all the onion, mushrooms and bacon.

Add to the pan the paprika, tomato paste and worchstire sauce and your stock stir through

Remove from heat and stir in the sour cream.

 

Serve with pasta or rice

Garnish with chives or parsley

Serves 4

This can also be frozen on its own for up to three months (without the pasta or rice). Simply defrost then reheat over medium heat.
