What to do when stress levels build up and life starts to feel out of control.

Managing Mummy Stress

We all experience moments of stress and the way we deal with it can have great affect on our lives and those around us. When everything seems like it's going wrong, you've had it and finally hit breaking point, remember the steps below. Follow them to help you calm down and regain focus.

  1. Breathe... Take a deep breath in and focus on the sound and feeling of that breath while you do it.

  2. Count to 10 before you open your mouth to speak. This will help to clear your thoughts and know the real reason you're feeling this way.

  3. Use a quiet voice. The softer you speak the more your kids will pay attention to what you're saying.

  4. If you do overreact in front of the kids then apologise. It will make everyone feel better and shows them the right thing to do.

  5. Call someone close, you should talk whatever has happened or is happening over with an adult. A problem shared is a problem halved.
