International Book Giving Day

Its International Book Giving Day on the 14th of February and we are getting in the spirit and giving away lots of new release books!

International Book Giving Day Giveaway

International Book Giving Day is about putting books into as many hands of children as possible.  Whether its new books or carefully pre loved there is lots of ways to be involved in this great initiative.

You can find lots of ideas and more information

as well as the fabulous organisations and authors involved by clicking here.

Started in 2012 this will be the fifth International Book Giving Day and my children and i have for the last couple of years been involved and have loved giving our friends little books as gifts.  This year thanks to the lovely people at HarperCollins Publishers Australia we have two book packs to giveaway to two of our readers.

International Book Giving Day

Book Set One - for primary aged or chapter book reading children.

Olive of Groves

Olive has always dreamed of attending boarding school, but Mrs Groves' Boarding School for Naughty Boys, Talking Animals and Circus Performers is not what she expected. To tell the truth, dear reader, it is not what anyone expected!
The headmistress is completely bonkers and Pig McKenzie, school bully and all-round nasty swine, is determined to make Olive's life unbearable.
Olive, however, is clever, sweet and kind, and soon gains the loyalty and devotion of three rats, a short-sighted moose, a compulsive liar and a goose who faints at the sight of cherries.
But will friendship and wits be enough when Pig McKenzie puts his Truly Wicked Plan into gear? Or will Olive be cast out of Groves forever?

Crenshaw

Life is tough for ten-year-old Jackson. The landlord is often at the door, there’s not much food in the fridge and he’s worried that any day now the family will have to move out of their home. Again. Crenshaw is a cat. He’s large, he’s outspoken and he’s imaginary. He’s come back into Jackson’s life to help him but is an imaginary friend enough to save this family from losing everything? A heart-warming story about family and friendships from Newbery medal winner Katherine Applegate.

The Elementia Chronicles - Book 3 Part 1

The stunning conclusion to the Elementia Chronicles: an unofficial MINECRAFT-fan adventure series, inspired by the bestselling game.
In the thrilling final instalment to The Elementia Chronicles trilogy Stan, Kat, Charlie and their friends take on their most powerful foe yet.

Time Travelling With A Hamster

“My dad died twice. Once when he was thirty nine and again four years later when he was twelve. The first time had nothing to do with me. The second time definitely did, but I would never even have been there if it hadn’t been for his ‘time machine’…” When Al Chaudhury discovers his late dad’s time machine, he finds that going back to the 1980s requires daring and imagination. It also requires lies, theft, burglary, and setting his school on fire. All without losing his pet hamster, Alan Shearer…”   by Ross Welford

Book Set Two - for preschool aged or early readers.

My Friend Ernest

From talented picture book creators, award-winning Emma Allen and talented new illustrator Hannah Sommerville, comes a book about the joy of making friends.
It's the first day of school and Oscar is trying hard to be brave. Oscar's mum feels sure he will make lots of friends, but Oscar isn't so sure, particularly when Ernest seems so mean and scary.  But is he really?

Top Dog.

Written with enormous wit and insight, from the delightfully deadpan Rod Clement, comes a tale about Samson, top dog and corporate high-flier. This delightful picture book will tickle children and deeply resonate with parents. There's no doubt it's a dog-eat-dog environment in the corporate world, but Samson the poodle is up for the challenge. In fact, 'Samson may be the boss But he's a good boss. He rewards his troops well - With a pat on the head, A kind word and every now and then A little treat.
