Protect-A-Bed Product Review

Couple of weeks ago i met the lovely people from Protect-A-Bed. Australian made and owned business that sells quality bedding products. Now when I say quality and I do actually mean it there is clearly thought into their designs so they fit perfectly and don't come off, the fabrics are lovely to touch and feel and they have made styles to really suit individuals needs not just protect the bedding.  There are choices that have been approved by the National Asthma Council Australia's Sensitive Choice program, Red Nose (Sids and Kids) and the Eczema Association as Sensitive Skin Tried and Tested. Protect A Bed Product Review

Do you have a mattress or pillow protector?  Do you wash your pillow or mattress? ... yeah I'm not sure how a mattress is washed either, I know I have used bicarb and vinegar in patches on the kids mattresses a few times over years but its much easier to lug a single mattress outside than a queen one. I've never actually washed a mattress though. Why would you ?   Well after after reading the below fun facts about your bed you'll know why ....   eeep!

Fun Facts about your Bed - Did you know:

1. SWEAT: Humans sweat up to 1L of body fluid per night and lose millions of skin flakes each night. After
5 years, half the weight of a mattress can be made up of our own body fluids, skin cells, mould and
bacteria that seep into our bedding. Yuck!

2. DUST MITES: Dust mites lurk in an unprotected mattress and are a major cause of asthma and allergies.
As much as 30% of the population are actually allergic to dust mite. (Despite their tiny size, dust mites
produce 10-20 waste particles per day!)

3. INCONTINENCE: If you’ve ever suffered from any form of urinary incontinence, you’re not alone.
Estimates are that 4.6 million Australians suffer from some form of urinary incontinence, so it is not an
uncommon concern. Night time accidents are an unspoken issue and cause of stress – but it doesn’t
have to be.

4. SLEEP: We spend 1 third of our life sleeping. New parents lose between 450-700 hours of sleep in the
first year of their child’s life – all parents understand the frustration and loss of sleep that bedwetting
can cause for both themselves and their child.

How you feeling now?  If you don't have a mattress and pillow protector I think you'll consider now after those gross tid bits of info!

I was given a Queen size Traditional Cotton-Quilted mattress protector from Protect-A-Bed to try. I like how it fully fits the bed to start! no creeping corners or waking up mumified because the elastic on the outter has rolled up. It also goes all the way to the edge of the mattress so there is no seam to annoy you. It is comfortable to sleep on, I kinda forgot it was there so I guess that's a positive too.

The Traditional Cotton-Quilted mattress protector has a 100% cotton sleep surface and its padding is cotton too. Its waterproof although I haven't tested this particular style I did see Mr Protect-A-Bed himself tip a cup of tea on one of his mattress protectors so I'm sure its good.

I also have a couple of the Protect-A-Bed Terry Linen Protectors and they have been a sanity saver for me with kids wetting the bed. Its not bulky so its easy to put on and take off, machine washable and its not too heavy when throwing it up onto a clothes line (you can even put it in the dryer).

If you'd like a mattress protector  or a linen protector and not sure where to start this is a great one that I can easily recommend.   We attended an event by Protect-A-Bed and were asked to share a product review IF we wished. All thoughts and opinions are our own and we are really happy with our experience.

I should also mention this offer that is testament to their quality there is a Protect-A-Bed mattress guarantee: At selected mattress retailers, if you purchase a Protect-A-Bed® mattress protector, together with a new mattress, and both items are shown on the same sales receipt, Protect-A-Bed guarantee the mattress sleep surface against staining.
