The Lego Movie

Everything is awesome! especially when you own a copy on dvd!

Did you love The LEGO Movie ?

We loved it.  We saw it a couple of times at the cinema so when had the opportunity to attend a LEGO DVD release party thanks to Roadshow a few weeks back we jumped at the chance.

I love the Movie ... didnt think i would. Ninjago and Clutch Powers dont really do it for me and the first time i saw it i enjoyed it but didnt love it.  The second time i watched it i loved it, dont know if it was the popcorn or less kids to concentrate on but the second time was brilliant.  Whats not to love?

Emmet Brickowski an ordinary construction guy who does everything hes supposed to in his ordinary life gets mistaken for a "special" that leads him to save to the Lego world of course. It has great cast - Morgan Freeman still hasn’t been in a bad movie yet and Liam Neeson is so good in his good cop/bad cop role just to name a couple.

Anyone and everyone is in the movie Batman, Michelangelo (turtle and the artist), Green Lantern, William Shakespeare, Shaquille O'Neal, Statue of Liberty, Wonder Woman  its quite funny just seeing all the extras. It may be a massive marketing thing but you know i can't wait till the mini figures are out so i can get a Larry the Barista  who makes the most overpriced coffee.

The movie is an hour and a half of full on LEGO advertising but the attention to detail, the personalities of the characters - who couldn't love Spaceman Benny?, the fun lines and the worlds most catchiest song ever make for one of the most fun movies in a long time.

Thank you roadshow for inviting us to attend your event we loved meeting Emmet and Wyldstyle, loved watching the out takes and making of, loved the characters and cupcakes and loved loved loved our showbags of The LEGO Movie gear!   xx

My favorite character is Emmet because like all of us he is just an ordinary person but who is special and unique but struggles to see that in him. And with an adventure we call life, like Emmet, we all have a purpose and are good at something even if don't realize it and can be extraordinary with and among all our friends.

Wyldchild because shes not afraid of anything (despite her clearly obvious self esteem issues).

I didn't think I'd like the lego movie either but I LOVE it. Its one of the rare movies I can watch over and over and not get bored of. Probably because EVERYTHING IS AWESOME.

I didn't think I'd like either, but after the event I watched it and loved it. My boy has his first celebrity crush on Wildstyle - very cute. He gets all starry eyed x

For those who haven't yet seen The Lego Movie ... warning - this post contains spoilers.

I asked my daughter her favourite character and she sais 'the boy's sister's Duplo monsters at the end of the movie.' Why? Because they're the sort of things she'd like to make out of Lego - cute, kooky, with just a little bit of monster thrown in!

I love Bad Cop! He is really funny, and towards the end of the film, he literally realises that he has a good side. The whole face-changing thing is such a crack up!!! Characters like this are what make the Lego movie so likeable for adults as well as kids.

Wyldstyle!! It was great to have a main character who was female!! I love that she was a real lego character too (unlike the 'Friends' Lego female characters). She was hell bent on bringing out Emmett's true potential and she stuck by him even when he struggled! With a little bit of faith, encouragement and good friends - we can achieve anything! She was mysterious, witty and she didn't try to be anything other than herself - a true role model!

Although we've never seen it,
My boys are quite obsessed,
They love Unikitty, even President Business!
But they love Emmet best.
He seems kind and reliable,
Nothing gets him down.
He is cheerful and optimistic
A lovable, likeable clown.

Morgan Freeman as the wise wizard Vitruvius - his freaky awesome eyes and that he inspires Emmett to live up to his true potential. I love his voice too.,

1980 Something Space Guy! Who else?
And it isn't just his all consuming passion for his SPACESHIP! (now a very regular saying in our house... my kids will make spaceships out of anything!) it's how nice he is. He wants to build a spaceship throughout the entire movie but still waits for permission.
But the Number 1 Reason it must be 1980 Something Space Guy is the crack in his helmet. EVERY kid who EVER played with Lego knows that crack! The attention to detail is awesome!

Emmet is my favourite character because he gives a beautiful lesson to everyone that if they think they can do something - they will really be able to do that by being persistent..
